Solution Architect Peaks

Can you explain to us what your job as a solution architect involves?

I currently work within the technical department of peaks. I work with clients on specific topics (audit, project management, devops, etc.) but also internally on the technical management a solution for beekeepers that can be controlled by voice. The position ofsolution architect does not consist of knowing all the technologies by heart, but rather of having a good general knowledge of operation of an information system. in its entirety and to choose the appropriate technical bricks according to the constraints of a project, whether technical, organizational or political…

What was your journey to get here?

It was rich and varied! After training as a general engineer in Telecom & Network, I was very quickly attracted to programming. From post developer at the post ofsolutions architect, I went through very varied missions, whether technical or not (approval, development, project management, project management, devops, etc.), Peaks, by trusting me, allowed me to evolve step by step towards profession of architect.

Why is your role as a solutions architect important?

A project without a well-defined outline can drift very quickly. The choice of an architecture has an impact on what happens next. This must be considered, a bad choice could lead to disastrous consequences on a project, an increase in costs, difficult maintainability, a lack of skills able to operate on the subject, etc.

What technologies should you master?

No technologies strictly speaking to master. On the other hand, a good knowledge of the different aspects of the IT environment is desirable. Non-exhaustive list:

  • The network
  • infrastructure
  • The different dev technologies (front and backend)
  • Data management (persistence, flow, transformations, etc.)

How is your job a job with a future?

I have the impression that in-house solutions are less and less developed. With the advent of SAAS for example, the answer to an IT problem is rather to use services already hosted and integrate them.

The architect assembles several existing bricks, with potentially adaptation developments. Its goal is not to create an application but rather to implement in the most complex cases an information system involving several applications. Our professional culture must therefore be important to choose the best technology according to use. It is then the developers who take control by bringing their know-how to this or that technology.
