Green Peaks Challenge #1

trees challenge green peaks

What is Green Peaks?

A group of Peaksians interested, sensitive, concerned, passionate or involved in questions of ecological responsibility. Consultants, an accountant, an agency director, an HR manager, in short, a panel of Peaks employees who meet around questions of eco-responsibility, share news, good practices, raise awareness and encourage colleagues and environment to get involved in the future of our planet. Our name: Green Peaks.

The prince?

A monthly challenge, accessible to all, to support us in the ecological transition and relieve our beautiful planet. For each challenge, we will communicate the rules of the game and the scoring. Do you want to play with us?

CHALLENGE GREEN PEAKS #1

This challenge consists of… (drumroll)…limiting the reception of advertising.

The most obvious action for this challenge is to limit the paper advertising that we receive in our mailbox.

It's a mailbox, not a mailbox! And yet, this year, it is almost 2,3kg of leaflets which land in our advertising boxes month Almost 30kg per year per household, which must be printed, distributed and then thrown away. Whether it is recycled or burned, advertising remains waste which is not useful and which increases the planet's GHG emissions.... 30kg, or around sixty pints (don't lie, I know that means more to you).

ad stop

To limit this impact, simply put the “Stop advertising” sticker which you can download for free here https://www.ecologique-solidaire.gouv.fr/stop-pub or failing that, a post-it and a piece of tape works very well.

Less obvious now, the leaflets distributed in the street.

You are surely familiar with this situation. For no reason, you find yourself with a sheet of glossy paper in your hands promoting the opening of an average store, or offering you 10 cents on the menu of a dubious restaurant. So, to avoid having to get rid of them, do not accept them. We raise our arms and continue on our way. Over time, seeing their stock of paper not decreasing according to advertising campaigns, distributors will learn that there is no point in distributing these sheets that no one reads or keeps and which systematically ends up in the mail. trash or down the drain.

And my favorite for the end, useless newsletters !

stop unnecessary newsletters

And yes, because your mailbox has also become an advertising mailbox. I suggest you start a crusade against unread newsletters and placed directly in the trash (you put them in the trash, right? You don't put them in the read “just in case” right?).

In addition to polluting your inbox and drowning out the important information you receive, the energy cost of sending and storing these newsletters is considerable. I'll let you refer to Romuald's meet-up for more details.

Unsubscribe, delete unnecessary emails and empty your trash. You will see afterwards, we already feel much better!

Here is the proposed scoring:

  • 5pts for each day there is an advert in your mailbox
  • 5pts for each rejected prospectus
  • 2pts for each newsletter you unsubscribe from.
  • 20pts if you retrospectively clean your inbox

Share your score with us!

Have fun! And Make our planet green again!
