GreenPeaks #8

month without tobacco stop smoking

Hello ! Hello ! Hello ! We are happy to see you today for the announcement of GreenPeaks challenge number 8!

New GreenPeaks challenge

It’s true that we haven’t seen each other for some time now, but we’re not coming back empty-handed and we’re still just as motivated! We've gone on adventures, we've endured harsh winds and scorching deserts – we've climbed into the highest room of the tallest tower – and what do we find? Julius! #Shrek. Jules joins the GreenPeaks team to support you and will be happy to answer your #green questions.

For all those who do not know, the GreenPeaks ambassadors aim to convince, encourage and support our colleagues/relatives to be more respectful of the environment, to take the steps of eco-responsibility and this without disrupting their daily lives too much.

November is tobacco-free month! The opportunity for those who would like to quit smoking to be supported in this process. It’s a collective challenge that invites all smokers to quit for a month with the support of their loved ones (more info: https://mois-sans-tabac.tabac-info-service.fr/).

However, if this is not the time for you, it is still time to make a real green resolution, namely to no longer throw your cigarette butts anywhere.
Indeed :

  • A single cigarette butt can pollute up to 500 liters of water.
  • Nature painfully overcomes it in more than 10 years.
  • Many cigarette butts thrown on the ground are carried by the wind and rain into rivers and oceans.
  • Birds and fish mistake cigarette butts for food, due to their size and appearance similar to small fish. After swallowing these pieces of plastic fibers, the consequences for them are tragic.

Fortunately, today there are several solutions:

  • Dispose of your cigarette butts in public or household trash cans after having extinguished them properly.
  • There are pocket ashtrays. You can also get a small metal box and use it for this. When you smoke, you can put your butts in it. Then empty it into a trash can.
  • Collective ashtrays are sometimes installed at outdoor break locations in companies and even at certain public transport stops. Sometimes they are even ashtrays made available by a company which then recycles these cigarette butts.

And if you don't smoke, it's always welcome to inform and coach those around you who do!

And for everyone, why not suggest to your customer to install a recycled ashtray…? 🙂

So enjoy the challenge & don’t forget:

Tobacco is taboo, we will all get rid of it
