PHP Tower
A few days ago, we had the opportunity to participate in the last “PHP Tour” organized by the AFUP (French Association of PHP Users). This event, one of the most awaited by the PHP community, took place this year in two cinemas in Montpellier. The latest PHP Tour? Yes, this event which until then brought together participants from all over France for two days, will be transformed next year into several ''local'' events on a single day in several cities in France: the “AFUP day”.
For this last edition, we were able to attend quality conferences, all projected on 6-meter screens, comfortably seated in our cinema seats.
There was something for everyone: very technical conferences, others more focused on news, on Frameworks, on language, on optimization or debugging. Subjects also less specific to PHP but just as interesting as ethics, documentation or even the decryption of your employment contract.
Our Top 3 PHP Tour 2018 conferences:
• " WELCOME TO THE MATRIX ! » presented by Benoit Jacquemont (@BJacquemont). He explained, with concrete examples, how to debug and analyze his application in depth with system commands.
• "GRAU" : Workflow Management Assisted by Computer (yes yes Computer) by Nicolas Wurtz (@NicolasW_GRAOU). This is the story of an SNCF driver who, in 3 months, starting from a very simple need, created an application. It has become the most used application internally at SNCF.
• “ETHICS AND MACAROONS” presented by Laurent Chemia, co-founder of Gandhi (@laurentchemla). It was an interactive conference, where we discussed ethics in computing. This is an important subject, given the amount of user data that we are likely to handle. It is also topical with the implementation of the GDPR.
