Solidarity collection for Restos du Cœur

“For the first time in our history and it is heartbreaking, we will be forced to restrict the eligibility criteria for our aid, and to reduce the allocation to the people we welcome.”
Patrice Douret, volunteer president of Restos, September 2023

Patrice DOURET, volunteer president of Restos du Cœur, alerts us in his press release from last September. The association created by Coluche in 1985 to help the most deprived is experiencing an unprecedented situation. Affected as much by the explosion in the number of supported beneficiaries, as by the drop in the volume of donations or even by the increase in the association's operating costs, the risk is clear: "At this rate, if we don't do nothing, even the Restos du Cœur could go out of business within three years.”

Challenged by this alert message, Peaks proposes, at its level, to mobilize to support the association. Peaks is organizing, with the local branches of Restos du Cœur, a solidarity collection of in-kind donations in each of its offices.
Thus, Peaksians from the south, the Reims region and Lyon deposited their donations between November 15 and December 15, directly to their home agency.

Les Restos du Cœur in a few key figures:

  • 1,1 million people welcomed, including 810 during the winter campaign
  • 142 million meals distributed
  • 110 children under 000 helped
  • 70 regular volunteers and 000 occasional volunteers
